Modern Kurtis with South Indian Motifs

South Indian textile motifs are finding a second home in modern kurtis. Temple borders, peacock feathers, mango patterns and tiny kasu coin prints now show up on cotton and linen silhouettes made for everyday wear.

The appeal is subtle: a kurti looks like a simple tunic from across the room, but up close the print or trim tells a story. It is an easy way to wear heritage without dressing for a wedding.

For a clean fit, pay attention to shoulder width and hip ease. A kurti that is too tight across the hips will ride up; one that is too loose loses its shape. We often add small side slits or a shaped waistband to keep the silhouette flattering.
